Mints’s Kittens and Increasing Skills

Sleeping after a long climb.

Sleeping after a long climb.

Mint’s kittens are drinking milk and water and learning to climb and jump. This means they are almost ready to be adopted by a loving family. Once they are on solid food it is only a matter of a few days to a week, according to the vet Mint’s ‘mother’ saw this week. Since my last post I have found someone who is willing to adopted a kitten and ensure they have a good home at least, homes for the other is still hard. I am not certain why it is so hard finding homes for these cute little guys. The stories of how quickly their skills are developing is something I am happily mentioning to everyone and gets a lot of cute sighs and comments but no promises of adoption.

A few days ago, an amazing example of how quickly the skills develop. During a visit, one of Mint’s little ones couldn’t climb up to a seat on a chair. However, within a thirty minute time period and three tires, he learned how to safely reach this chair to slumber. The very next day he needed two tries to get up and down from the chair seat and now he is climbing up without a problem, it is a half jump half climb.

"I made it to the top!"

“I made it to the top!”

It was a great moment for him as he looked around proudly and happily the first time he reached the seat without problems. Now he is sleeping there and  so far Rusty, Tiger and Charcoal do not seem too upset at their seat being filled by a smaller kitten. I am curious  to see how they will react tonight and how close they will stay to reassure themselves that they are still my number one furry family members.

  1. A well deserved seat kitty! 🙂

    • He worked really hard to get to the seat the first successful attempt. He sort of a half jumped and half climbed to the cushion and then a strong forearm pull up to the seat itself. It was amazing to watch.

      • I can imagine…I have seen my kitties grow up every single day, amazed at their progress and playfulness! 🙂

      • It is, they have learned how to play with the ball in a track toy already and the smart little fellow that first climbed on the chair is working hard to get his sisters interesting in hitting the ball back to him. They just are staring in awe at the ball moving back and forth.

      • haha…it is said that you can spend the entire day by just watching them…
